USING ENERGY-EFFICIENT CHECKLIST

Energy-efficient checklist is just a simple checklist for the better usage of energy. It can be used for various residential purposes and can also be used for small businesses. This checklist normally gives you a list of practices for saving energy or utilizing energy to it's maximum extent and also gives energy-efficient construction practices by which we can accordingly construct the buildings or the premises that we want to build.

This energy-efficient checklist not only lists down the practices but also addresses questions aroused generally by the construction foreman, laborers etc. It also clears the misperceptions regarding the involvement of first higher cost, skill levels beyond the reach of current workers etc. The items which are generally included in the energy-efficient checklist are generally very simple and ca be performed by a layman also. It's nothing but the right usage of energy. By using energy-efficient methods we not only save energy but also use it efficiently and the saved energy can be used for another purposes. Some examples of energy-efficient methods that can be used in a household are: -
* By turning down the temperature of the water-heaters to the warm setting (120 degrees Fahrenheit). This will not only save energy but also avoid scalding of heads.
* By using energy-saving settings on your refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machines etc.
* Check the age and the condition of the major appliances and try to replace it with more energy-efficient model before the old one dies.
* Upgrading leaky windows to windows to energy-efficient models or to boost their efficiency with weather-stripping and storm windows.
* Insulate hot water pipes and ducts wherever they are running through unheated areas.
* By installing a clock thermostat to set your thermostat back automatically at night.

Similarly while constructing buildings also there are certain energy-efficient construction practices that will help in the maximum utilization of energy. Some of the practices are: -
* Wall ceiling
* Combustion equipment safety
* Weather resistive Barriers
* Passive Solar Design
* Air ceiling etc.

CONCLUSION

As we know that energy can neither be created nor it can be destroyed, it can only be preserved. So we should strive to achieve this objective and make the maximum utilization of energy by using energy-efficient checklist. The practices involved are so simple that anyone can do it. And hence by using such practices we not only save energy but also can make an alternative use of it.
