Foam Pipe Insulation
Rigid Polyurethane Foam for Pipe Insulation Rigid polyurethane foam has been used for the insulation and protection of pipes. Polyurethane foam's popularity is based on its outstanding insulation properties. The foam pipes prevent heat loss or maintain temperatures in cold environments to prevent freezing or cracking. One of the characteristics of foam pipes is the high mechanical strength, adhesion, flexibility and a smooth flow. The foam pipes are durable and efficient and versatile. Foam Pipe-Manufacturing Technique For Effective Insulation There are two main forms of pipe production techniques known as discontinuous and continuous. 1. Discontinuous pipe manufacturing techniques involve filling of the void between steel inner pipes within a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) casing pipe. The gaps at both ends are sealed with tightly fitting caps equipped with injection and air venting holes. Standard steel pipe lengths for this process are 6,12 and 16m. 2. Continuous pipe manufacturing techniques happen in two main stages. In the first stage, foam is applied to the inner pipe by a molding or spray operation. During the second stage the outer casing pipe is extruded or wound around the pre-shaped foam. This process requires the use of modified polyurethane foam systems to provide different characteristics in terms of reactivity, viscosity build up and cure. This technique is mostly suited to bigger pipe manufacturers producing large quantities of the same diameter pipes. Benefits of this approach are its fast and consistent production runs at relatively low variable costs. Material costs can be reduced with lower foam over-pack, filling density and casing pipe thickness. Pipe Insulation Foam - Pipe Cover To keep the low temperature from preventing surface condensation and for minimizing heat gain molded rigid polyurethane foam is used for insulating the piping system. Insulation of the foam pipe allows efficient retention of heat and has low thermal conductivity. The foam pipes of rigid polyurethane provide a high level of compression and shear strength. However, the pipes are lightweight. There is no water absorption in foam pipe insulation as the water vapor permeability is low. The foam pipes are resistant to fire.

Basement insulation Basement insulation keeps the floor warmer as insulation slows heat transfer but it would not be efficient to insulate the basement ceiling. The transfer of heat is a non-linear function. This implies that heat loss is great when the differences... Foam board insulation Foam board insulation products are commonly used in buildings. Foam board insulation has a relatively high R-value compared to other types of insulation. Many variables affect the final R-value of foam board insulation .The initial density of the... Insulated Curtains Insulated curtains are one of the techniques used in home insulation systems. Home insulation involves setting up of different insulation systems that are installed to improve energy efficiency of the house by lowering utility bills over the year.... Insulated Glass Insulated windows provide ideal insulation systems when the home does not have insulation installed at the time of construction or the homeowner only requires partial insulation in the living space of the house. Home insulation requires one or many... Insulating Paint Technological innovations have led to the use of a new kind of home insulation technique using insulating paints. Meant to save on utility bills and save energy, these new types of paints are easy to use and applied in the same way as normal or... Insulation Megger Resistance Test The Megger test indicates the condition of ground insulation. However, it does not measure the turn-to-turn state of the insulation, and may not register localized weaknesses. Insulation Megger resistance tester is used to measure the insulation... Insulation Insulation is a method by which a home or building can be protected from the extreme weather conditions. Providing insulation for any living space means the cold air from the outside is prevented from entering the interior and at the same time the... Sound Insulation Although homes are built taking into consideration most of the aspects and requirements for a comfortable living, what is often ignored is the problem of noise or sound pollution. It definitely does not make sense to expect a quiet house when it is... Spray Foam Insulation Spray foam insulation is a popular option of insulation using foam. Spray foam or polyurethane foam is sprayed on any area where one would expect insulation including walls and ceilings. This spray foam is in liquid state and has the added advantage... Styrofoam insulation-"Resistance to the Weather Changes" The Styrofoam is the brand name for the Dow and company. This is a rigid polystyrene foam material. It is lightweight, waterproof and efficient in preventing the transfer of heat. Seventy five percent of benzene is used to produce styrene. The... |
