Hammer drills:
Hammer drill is a type of drill with a hammering action. It is sometimes confused with rotary hammer drill or roto hammer drill. Hammer drills design and uses: Hammer drills are most commonly used for drilling holes in stones and other harder surfaces. This is commonly done by the hammer drill because of its hammering actions. The hammering actions enable the hammer drill to cut through masonry without damaging it. Hammer drill can also be used on brittle substances easily and with significantly less time. There are some variations in the hammer drills; the higher-powered versions of hammer drills are labeled as rotary hammers. They are useful for providing greater impact. The other variation is the hammer drill, which uses lower power units. Sometimes there is great deal of confusion between the two designs. The principal difference between the hammer drill and rotary hammer is that the former combines the two actions of rotation and pounding and the latter delivers heavy hammering with a chisel feature. The hammer and rotations functions can either be used separately which provides drilling much like the traditional jack hammer or the two actions can also be used in combination. There are some special features attached with the hammer drill. It has variable speed selection and reversibility action. Some designs also include removable handles that can provide the operator greater control over space and movements. The striking feature of this tool is the depth rod system, which enables the operator to control the depth of the drilled hole. Due to this tool, drilling holes in concrete and even masonry has become much easier and quicker. Working of a hammer drill: A hammer drill works very much like a hammer itself. The tool can be used first for drilling a hole in the concrete, wall and then because of its different settings, the hole can be drilled directly into the space desired with ease and quickness. While working with the hammer drill however, certain important factors need to be carefully considered. Extreme caution should be used while drilling holes in concrete as sometimes the concrete can even blow apart rendering it useless. Personal safety guidelines should also be strictly followed. With high durability and low maintenance this useful tool is all the more appealing for handymen for their daily work operations.
