Disadvantages: Coping saws are very difficult to use and therefore a lot of skill is required for the job. Also they are getting replaced with modern saws like fretsaws, for easy and cheap working option. Also since their blades are thin, they require extra protection and management. Coping saws are however holing their own despite the disadvantages, and still continue to rule the handyman's list of essential tools.
