What Is A Ramp? Ramp is a bridge from dock, trailer or truck level to ground level. Ramps are available in a wide range of capacities and sizes. Auxiliary Loading Dock Ramp To increase the overall length of the ramp surfaces and to lessen the degree of incline of ramps between a loading dock and a truck or railroad car, auxiliary loading dock ramp is used. This can be securely locked to a conventional ramp. To maintain the ramp in an elevated position above the surface of the loading dock the auxiliary loading dock ramp include legs on the forward end and support on the rearward end. Pair of ears on each side of the auxiliary ramp adjacent the rearward end are received in slots in the forward end of a conventional ramp. Hence the forward end of the conventional ramp that overlaps engages the rearward end of the auxiliary ramp to provide an elongated deck surface over which loads may be transported between the loading dock and the truck.
