Movado started in Switzerland around 1881 when Achilles Ditesheim, a teenage entrepreneur (he was only 19) hired half a dozen watchmakers and began a workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The name selected was Movado; meaning always in motion and soon the company came to be connected with innovation in time technology - willing efforts and teamwork of the originator and employees helping Movado live up to its name.
